It is the belief of LCA International Mission that in most cases, we can best serve in God’s mission overseas by supporting our partner churches through the work they are doing in their countries and with their nearby neighbours. We have a particular emphasis on supporting the Lutheran Churches in our near neighbours of Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Malaysia, Sabah, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar and Cambodia. It is our real desire to see a strengthening of the relationships we have with these Churches especially in more personal contact and interaction with members of the LCA and the partner churches.
Lutheran congregations, schools, communities, families and individuals are being energised and encouraged in God’s mission by partnering with overseas churches. They are discovering how much they learn and grow through the experience, as each partner enriches the other.
Working and worshipping together in Christ and sharing our lives with one another helps Christian communities to develop a sense of the love of Christ in our lives. As we love one another we experience joy. Building Christian friendships across cultures is one way that churches are nurturing the joy of Christian fellowship and finding abundant life in their congregations.
Partnerships can include:
- praying for each other
- fundraising for specific projects
- receiving newsletters and updates
- exchange visits between partner agencies or groups.
LCA International Mission believes it is important to maintain sustainable partnerships when working in mission here and overseas. Therefore we encourage congregations, schools, communities, families and individuals (where possible) to work together with the overseas partner churches with whom the LCA partnerships have already been established and where much of the groundwork in developing relationships has already been done.
