New and exciting mission and ministry challenges lie ahead for Pastor Simon Mackenzie who has returned to Australia in October 2013 together with his wife Oiy and son after serving as the LCA missionary with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thailand (ELCT) since 2005.

Simon is now preparing to begin ministry together with Pastor Mark Schultz in the Life Way Lutheran Church in Epping, NSW.

The Lutheran Church of Australia continues to support the ministry program of ELCT in Thailand particularly in the Nan province with the Lua people who reside in this remote region.

There are approximately 140,000 Lua people living in the mountainous regions of Nan Province. Ethnically, culturally and historically the Lua people are not Thai. Their first language is Lua and they have strong animistic beliefs and practices.

The Spirit of Jesus is changing the lives of the Lua people as they come to saving faith in Jesus Christ and experience the freedom that Jesus gives.

Pastor Amnauy and Lua evangelists live and work amongst the Lua people and continue share the good news of Jesus and his power to save and transform lives.

The annual Christmas program is a highlight for the Lua members and the people living in the scattered villages.

You are encouraged to pray for Pastor Amnauy and the evangelists as they carry out the mission of Jesus in this region. And to pray for Simon, Oiy and Aussie as they transition to a new life and ministry circumstances in Australia.
