On October 31, 2000, the National Committee of the Lutheran World Federation (KNLWF) Indonesia took its first step of faith. Motivated by a strong calling to strengthen Lutheran identity and contribute to positive societal change, KNLWF embarked on this journey of ministry alongside member churches in Indonesia. Through an inclusive and loving ministry grounded in the spirit of the Theology of the Cross, KNLWF Indonesia has built a firm foundation in embodying Christian values in the public sphere.

THEOLOGY AND LUTHERAN IDENTITY: BUILDING A STRONG FOUNDATION
Over these 25 years, KNLWF Indonesia and its member churches have endeavoured to establish a robust theology and Lutheran identity. The deep exploration of the Small Catechism, Concordia, and other theological literature has been the cornerstone in the teaching and training processes. Theological programs across various groups have facilitated learning rich in spiritual values rooted in Lutheran teachings.

JUSTICE AND PEACE: EMBODYING JUST ENGAGEMENT
Advocacy has been the key focus of every effort of KNLWF in promoting justice for all segments of society. Awareness of gender issues, environmental concerns, and inclusivity has inspired various programs aimed at empowering women, children, youth, and marginalised communities.

Collaboration with local communities, government institutions, and international organisations has expanded the impact of this ministry.

LEADERSHIP: EMULATING CHRIST AS A SERVANT
Leadership within KNLWF Indonesia is characterized by the spirit of Mark 10:45, serving rather than being served. The model of Grace-Centred Leadership and a holistic pastoral approach define the shaping of leaders with integrity. Each leader is encouraged to emulate Christ in serving with humility and love.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: PREPARING FUTURE LEADERS
In this journey, KNLWF has developed educational programs aimed at training young leaders with strong theology and excellent ministry skills. Intensive training, theological courses, and seminars have become tools for developing leaders ready to face the challenges of the modern world without losing their Lutheran identity.

YOUTH AND CROSS-GENERATIONAL ENGAGEMENT: PREPARING FUTURE LEADERS
KNLWF Indonesia has consistently embraced youth participation in ministry. Various cross-generational programs are designed to prepare them as wise and integrity-filled leaders. Interfaith programs, leadership training, and global engagement opportunities have instilled the spirit of servant leadership in the hearts of the youth.

DIALOGUE: SOWING HARMONY IN DIVERSITY
KNLWF Indonesia recognizes the importance of dialogue as a means of building mutual understanding amid diversity. Therefore, interfaith and interdenominational programs have been initiated to open up spaces for constructive discussion. Through comprehensive education and training, member churches have been equipped with broad insights into managing differences productively and promoting sustainable social harmony.

DIAKONIA AND SUSTAINABLE ECONOMY: SERVING WITH GENUINE LOVE
KNLWF Indonesia places diakonia as a tangible expression of love toward others. Skill training programs, sustainable economic development, and assistance to vulnerable communities have become essential parts of diaconal ministry. This sustainable economic approach aims to create an environment that supports economic independence and social well-being.

CHURCH IN THE PUBLIC SPHERE: BEING SALT AND LIGHT FOR THE WORLD
KNLWF Indonesia continues to encourage the church to play an active role in the public sphere. Through engagement in national dialogues, environmental issues, human rights, and various social initiatives, the church is invited to be the salt and light that brings transformation to Indonesia and the world.

STRENGTHENING FELLOWSHIP: BECOMING ONE BODY, ONE SPIRIT, AND ONE HOPE
This 25-year journey has also been marked by a strong spirit of fellowship. Member churches live out the values of unity in Christ, strengthening one body, one spirit, and one hope. This fellowship serves as the foundation to move together in striving for meaningful social change.

MOVING FORWARD TOWARDS THE NEXT 25 YEARS
Through this journey, KNLWF Indonesia has demonstrated that the church plays an active role in making a tangible impact on society. The shared hope moving forward into the next 25 years is for this strong and inclusive Lutheran identity to continue to be a pillar that strengthens fellowship and contributes to Indonesia and the world.

We pray that the love of Christ continues to empower KNLWF Indonesia to extend His love and justice in every ministry and step taken. May we, in one body, one spirit, and one hope, continue to be witnesses of God’s love and grace to the world.
