In October 2024, the of Federation of Lutheran Churches in Myanmar (FLCM) hosted the National Youth Conference in the city of Yangon. The aim of the annual conference is to build up mutual understanding, trust and unity among the lives of youth within member churches of the FLCM, and to promote youth leadership capacity for the glory of God and service of his church.

There were 24 active youth delegates who attended the conference and we were blessed to have Mr Thet Aung, a gifted youth trainer from the Free Methodist Church of Myanmar, serve as our guest speaker.

The theme of the conference was “One Body, One Spirit, One Hope (Ephesians 4:4)”. The  focus of the conference was on the importance of living, sharing, and serving in order to strengthen the communion of the FLCM member churches for God’s glory. Youth delegates from the four FLCM member churches were encouraged to think about the importance of  living together in unity. We are given the same Holy Spirit, and that Spirit initiates a living faith in us, so that we are aware we are sinners in need of a Saviour.

The participants reflected on how having one hope in Christ helps us to preserve our faith in Christ alone, no matter what circumstance we face.

They were reminded that unity is only achieved if members accept the uniqueness of the differences within the body of Christ.

The conference program included a range of activities: morning devotion, Bible teaching on various topics, fellowship, fun, games, discussions about team work for the growth of a missional church, the importance of sharing personal evangelism with others, and working and serving in unity. The participants learned about the importance of individual believers to share the gospel with their friends and in their workplaces. They also discovered the hidden talents given by God and understood their different callings for the same purpose.

This conference was a great platform for the youth to build trust with each other, formed through the quality time they spent together. We strongly hope that the outcomes and  blessing of this camp will include increased capacity, unity, and communion between the FLCM member churches. We pray that God’s healing message of salvation will be a witness to Myanmar as we work together.

We are grateful for the financial support of the Mekong Mission Forum, which enabled us to host this conference.
