Early last year while he was on furlough, Pastor Mick Hauser visited Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Adelaide and shared a short presentation on his work in Papua New Guinea as a missionary teaching at Martin Luther Seminary in Lae. Members of the congregation were inspired by what they heard and with concern for the needs of the church, decided the proceeds from an upcoming fundraiser Quiz night would be given to support the training of pastors and other church workers in PNG. Specifically they offered to pay for a copy of Martin Luther’s Small Catechism with Explanations (in Tok Pisin) to be given to every student at the three seminaries, the missionary training school and the Church College at Banz.

English translation:

On behalf of the staff and students of Senior Flierl Seminary I say ‘many thanks” for the Small Catechisms that were sent from Bethlehem Lutheran congregation in Adelaide Australia. This is an enormous blessing and support for us to use in our studies and meditation time which gives good understanding to us in our Christian walk. Also it is a wonderful help in our teaching of Christian Life Studies at the Gagidu Primary School (which is close to the seminary). Again we say a big thankyou as we rejoice in this wonderful blessing God has sent from the Bethlehem congregation.

The Grace and peace of our Lord Jesus be with you all, in the name of our Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Deputy Principal, William Sugoho and chairman of the Student Representative Council, Mungbe Nassim.
